Make Up for Dark Skin

Make Up for Dark Skin

Makeup has become part and parcel of every woman’s morning routine. It has become a habit with women to have a last check of their makeup before they go out and to powder their noses in the middle of dinner. So with the different builds and different skin colors, how can people choose the right makeup? The main factor that should influence your selection is skin color and body type. These two criterions will end up choosing your makeup for you.

Here are a few tips for those dark beauties out there. From Indian to negroid, there are many varieties and shades of dark skin. These different shades will need different treatments. So here are some tips that will enable you to choose the right makeup.

  • Since dark skin absorbs the photons, they will appear oilier even when they are not. Because of this you mustn’t use cream based foundations. Use water based foundations and blend the foundation well. Add a drop of water to get the right mix. The shade of the mix should be close to your skin color. After you apply the foundation, put on some baby powder. Dust off the excess baby powder because black skin will reveal the layers of makeup more prominently.
  • When you choose the blush color, make sure that you go for the reddish colors of rose, deep orange and coral. Avoid the browns and peachy shades because they are not suitable for you. For day time makeup, you can choose rose or pink color which will be perfect for you if you have dark skin. For the nights you can opt for shades of bronze and plum. You can add some luster to your skin by judicious use of the blush over the cheek bones. Golden colors will go well with you and will make you look glamorous. Apply some at the corners of your eyebrows.
  • Go for brown tinted eyeshades especially soft brown on the upper lid and dark brown on the lower lids. When you do your eyes, you can add depth by dragging the eyeshade slightly outwards. Light colored shades are a strict no-no. You can have a change of color by using dark blue or purple shades to line your eyes close too the lashes and eyelids. You can also soften eh lines with a sponge headed applicator. You can outline the eyes with kaajal and use mascara to thicken your eyelashes
  • For lipsticks, you can either use red or brown shades or you could blend two shades to suit your skin better. Use the lipstick sparingly and choose the lipstick color to match your nail polish. Also try to find a balance between the eye and lip shades. You can use different colors like copper, bronze, redwine etc if you want to spread out within the color spectrum.

A good color co-ordination and balance is essential for looking good and when you choose your outfit, make sure that it does not clash with your makeup.

Sensitive Skin

If you are allergic to a particular chemical, it doesn’t matter if the chemical was produced naturally or artificially. You will be affected period. It’s the chemical and the type of your skin that determines the severity of the affliction. Many companies and so called experts argue that all-natural make up products are not harmful and that they don’t cause any undesired reactions. But, this simply is not true because there lots of naturally occurring chemicals that are bad for you. For instance, poison ivy is certainly not good for you even though it a natural plant.

Dr. Roberta Palestine, at the mayo clinic, has been quoted as saying that all natural products are not always best and synthetic products are not always worse. What you can do is choose a make up that is most suited to your skin type. This means that you should avoid make ups that can cause you allergies.

Many companies are now coming out with hypoallergenic products that are mild and gentle on the skin. The problem is that medical science hasn’t been able to identify specific ingredients of the makeup that causes allergy. But if you know that you are allergic to a particular ingredient, it makes sense to stay from products that has that particular ingredient. Most makeup products list the ingredients on the label on the bottle or on the cover in which the bottle came.

People with sensitive skin are more badly affected by makeup products. Sometimes, they might have a slight allergy to an ingredient and they don’t even realize it until their skin gets dry and irritated from prolonged use. For instance, women who use foundation makeup, to even out their skin tone, may be allergic to something in the makeup but they walk around all day with the make up on until the dryness and irritation gets worse day by day. Women who suffer from dry skin should stay away from makeup that uses formaldehyde and alcohol etc.

When you switch between different types of makeup, it may take your skin some time to adjust to the new makeup. So, if you want to switch to all natural makeup, you should make the switch so that the skin can make the adjustment in one go. It means that you should not make piecemeal changes in your makeup because it means that the skin has to make the adjustment a number of times. Even if the product is all-natural, take a look at the ingredient list and see if you can spot something that you are allergic to.

With so many companies out there, you should do some research and find out whether the products are made using quality ingredients before you try out a new line of products. Companies try to hook people by offering free samples at shopping malls, beauty parlors etc. You should take extra care when you try out these samples.

Skin Appearance

I will give you three simple beauty tips by which you can enhance your good looks. They take very little time and effort to do and if followed correctly, will cause noticeable improvements in your appearance.

The tips are:

  1. Adequate sleep – You need to regulate your sleeping habits and make sure that you get at least 6 to 8 hours daily. Dark circles and bags under the eyes are commonly caused by sitting up late and not getting enough sleep. So, make sure that you catch up on your beauty sleep.
  2. Drink plenty of water – This is the simplest way to improve your beauty. You should drink enough water so that the hydration level of your skin is maintained during the day. If you don’t keep an eye on your hydration levels, you could get dehydrated and this in turn causes your eyes to appear dull and sunken. Dehydration can also cause your skin to have an unhealthy pallor. Drink plenty of water to regulate your hydration levels during the day.
  3. Remove makeup before sleep – If you don’t completely remove your makeup at night, your skin pores can get clogged. You should allow you skin to breathe because clogged pores can cause acne and blackheads. So it is important that you remember to remove all makeup before you go to bed because failure to do so can result in undesirable effects on your skin.

As you can see all three tips are very easy to do and will cost you nothing.
